Intimate Minimalist Wedding in St. Louis Missouri
St. Louis Wedding Photographer
The first time I spoke on the phone with Catherine, I kept repeating “Okay, we are actually friends.” And it was true. Every word that came out of Cat’s mouth aligned with all of the vision we had for our work. She and Joe had connected with our photography on a level that photographers dream of. They wanted wedding photos that would reflect the beauty of the day on an intimate level. I believe that is exactly what we did.
Catherine and Joe’s calm spirits permeated through the day. Everyone involved in the day was so joyful and in love with the couple they were celebrating. If you dropped in from any point in the past or future, you wouldn’t have guessed that a pandemic had changed the wedding they had planned before shifting their day almost entirely.
They started the day at The Last Hotel in St. Louis. (Prior to the day, we hadn’t met these two wonderful humans. As soon as we said hello, my suspicions were confirmed. We were friends!) I headed into Catherine’s suite and met with her lovely friends and family. Cat was calm. Doing her makeup, helping her loved ones get ready and just all around being her lovely self. Zach photographed Joe getting ready and texted me letting me know that I was going to love him. (He knows I fall in love with couples sometimes. haha)
Their first look was planned as a private moment. We discreetly walked to the back of the hotel where Joe was waiting to see his love for the first time in her wedding dress. After some tear filled hugs, we headed to the church where these two said I do in front of their closest friends and family.
The reception took place in downtown St. Louis at Kaldi Coffee. (They had coffee beans as gifts for their guests!) The city lit up around these two while they danced the night away.
